As we draw closer to Britains exit from the EU, Government plans are getting nearer to fruition, with the idea of a large HGV parks located at Dovers Port. Not just a bold move, but a smart move in my opinion, as the dawn of a new era of import and export from the EU to the UK imposes on the life long relationship that was.
Not to stop there, the Government Suggests that we should scrap the Import tax. The main reason for the plans, is an uncomfortable thought of crashing out of the EU, without a deal. Having huge purpose built lorry parks to conduct customs checks would be an mammoth effort, on part of the worse case scenario, contingency plan heroes.
Where would they be? How effective would it be? Where would the money come from? News to follow closely, as this kind of idea, will shape the way HGV companies conduct their business here and across the pond.
Has Christmas come to early
As you drive down the road, you slow down, and right there in front of you, is the advert for Coca Cola, the big red truck that makes you realise, its getting cold, turkey dinners are on the way, and the year is coming to a swigt end, however is it wrong for me to say, “its October!” Well drivers up north were in that very position as they saw that very truck, driving down the road 12 weeks before Christmas. It’s only just stopped being sunny!
